Revelation 3:20 Common English Bible (CEB)
20 Look! I’m standing at the door and knocking. If any hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to be with them…
Yesterday, I was sitting in my office (my desk faces the window) I could see “people” walking door to door soliciting services. First it was the power wash guys, then lawn services, and lastly some guy in a suit.
Each of them came to my door assuming someone was home because of the cars parked in the driveway. Their assumptions were right. I was home. I saw them walking up my driveway. I say them approach the door. I heard the door bell loud and clear followed by the thunderous repeated knocks.
But I didn’t open the door. I sat, motionless, trying not to arouse suspicion. You see, I have had my experiences with opening the door. They are always trying to sell you the deal of a lifetime. If you don’t act now, you’re going to regret it.
This made me think…
Have we made Jesus a door to door salesman? Have we heard him knock and peeked out the window only to pretend not to be home? Have we ignored the ringing of his doorbell? Have we stood motionless until he leaves, waiting for the moment we can go back to doing whatever it is we want to do?
Jesus is knocking, are you going to let him in?
