2 Chronicles 1:7 New Living Translation (NLT)

7 That night God appeared to Solomon and said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!”

If God appeared in a dream to you and posed the above question, how would you respond? Careful now, your words have power!

Would you ask for a car? New home? Great health? Cash?Better paying job? Spouse? What say ye? Some of you may give a spiritual answer. Whatever the response weigh it carefully.

I often say this when I am teaching bible study “when you pray put a “comma” behind it and add the statement “in perfect and miraculous ways”

Why is this important, because prayers are answered but when they are we often don’t anticipate the results.

This summer I went to the movies with my youngest to see ” Into the Woods” it was great. There is one line in the movie that has replayed in my mind many times it went something like this… WISHES COME TRUE, NOT RIGHT!

WOW! yes, I believe that’s true.

Lets go back to the prayer.

I know a lady who wanted so much to attend bible study but she had a class on Wednesday night. She said she prayed and asked God to make a way for her to be able to attend. God answered, her class was moved to Saturday. Now she’s upset about that.

Similarly, I know a lady who prayed day and night for a husband. She really, really wanted one. Well, you guessed it; she got one, a sorry one. Now she’s praying for God to “fix” the marriage that SHE wanted.

Last one, but I can go on for days.

A young girl wanted a new car, she prayed about it, walked boldy into the dealership and claimed her brand spanking new car. Three months later the car has been repo’d because her finances weren’t in the best of order.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am a believer that prayer WORKS and God will indeed give you the desires of your heart. He wants us to ask him for “things” no matter how big or small. But when I pray, I always add the “comma” and the sentence I gave you.

I want my prayers answered…the RIGHT way, not the WISH way.
