Matthew 5:16New International Version (NIV)
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
I have attended many churches throughout my life and have encounter many levels of Saints. The ones who stick out the most have yet to apply this scripture to their lives. Their lights have stopped shining.
They are the stone faced, often combative, my way or the highway saints that believes “it don’t take all that” or “back in my day” we did such and such.
They are the ones that the mere appearance of anyone under the age of 13 can send their faces in a crumpled disfigurement.
They are the ones who have claimed their seat on the 3rd row and double dare you to sit there.
They are the example of what not to become.
They have become dim or flickering lights.
Maybe the cares of life have slowly dimmed the glow that once burned within them?
Maybe grief has overtaken them to the point of deep depression?
Maybe they have never truly received the in filling of the holy spirit?
I could continue to guess all day.
What do people see when they look at you? Do you have an internal light that shines bright? Are people naturally drawn to you? Can anyone see the God living inside of you?
Are you living so God can get the glory? Is your expression friendly? Do you speak in pleasant tones?
God has done more for us then enemy has done to us. Let’s be mindful to shine bright so that someone can see what the Lord has done.
“They are the example of what not to become” good point! I would like to add, God isn’t moving in their lives because they’re still (proverbial) standing still, hence, their warped sense of fellowship)
