Ezekiel 18:30 New International Version (NIV)
30 “Therefore, you Israelites, I will judge each of you according to your own ways, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall.
We live in a society that has determined that some “sins” are worse than others. These are usually the ones we aren’t committing. We are quick to point out and condemn our selection, often shaking our heads in disgust.
Oh, but if the spotlight was turned inward. Would the light show that we are merely “functioning sinners”
Have we gotten so accustomed to our way of sinning until we have justified its daily use?
Has the scripture ” the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak” Matthew 26:41(b) become our motto!
Have you hid your sin so well that the outside world has no clue?
Have we forgotten God sees and hears all?
Today, I am doing some soul-searching. I am focusing on me, the internal me. Not the me you see but the me GOD sees.
Am I walking around high on sin? Oblivious to the destruction of my own soul?
Am I?
Are you?
Have we become so accustomed to sin until we can hardly recognize it when it knocks on the door of our hearts? Have we joined the crowd due to sin pressure?
This is a self check. We freely accept that we “sin daily” but have we decided that this does not have to be our way of life.
If you have overcome, great ; you can now pray for the rest of us functioning sinners.
