1 Samuel 16:7 Living Bible (TLB)

7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by a man’s face or height, for this is not the one. I don’t make decisions the way you do! Men judge by outward appearance, but I look at a man’s thoughts and intentions.”

When you really study this scripture it should make you never doubt your physical appearance again. I know society has consistently tried to make everyone feel inferior if you do not fit the images of super models both male/female we see everywhere around us.

In this passage Samuel, the prophet, has been sent to anoint a new future King. He immediately goes for the one who “looks” like a King. Samuel, no doubt, has his own opinion of what a king should look like. But God says no, that’s not who I have chosen!

Aren’t you glad that you don’t have to LOOK a certain way for God to use you mighty! I don’t have to be a certain type in order to be picked by God. He doesn’t care that I am only 5’2″ tall and I don’t have model looks. I don’t have to conform to societies changing ideals of perfection, and neither do you.

To many of you, I don’t look like much, and that’s ok! I won’t concern myself with your opinion. What I am concerned with is HOW do I look to God.
