Proverbs 3:5New International Version (NIV)

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

It’s hard to trust when your heart doesn’t understand.
The scripture above doesn’t ask me to understand, it tells me not to trust my own understanding.

Whoa!! Wait!! What??

The scripture is asking me to trust even when whatever is going on doesn’t make sense to me.
It’s telling me, my limited thinking wouldn’t be able to understand anyway, but God who has never failed me, will not let me down, not this time- not ever.

Now to the with all my heart part. This implies that I can give him pieces of my heart but he wants it all.

This is a challenge for some, shoot me too. Have you ever loved someone and they hurt you ( yes, of course)
God is not like man, he should not be put in the same category as man.
It’s like getting out of a bad relationship being in a new relationship, but taking it out on the new guy because what the former person did. Not cool or fair.

We will never fully understand Gods ways but we have to trust him at his word. We tend to believe everything a person says until they give us reason to doubt, well…
what has God done that you are doubting him?

Why haven’t you given him your whole heart? Are you blaming him for something he didn’t do? Are you trying to understand why things are they way they are?

We don’t have to understand, we have to give our heart to God- all of it-even the broken pieces
