Genesis 4:9New International Version (NIV)

9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”

“I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

The Truth is …I need keeping.
I need someone to care enough about me to know where I am in life.

The scripture above is a reference to the first murder in the bible, but I want to look at it from another point of view.
Accountability.

I have a person who I can call that won’t just tell me what I want to hear. She won’t just say ” let me pray about it”
She wants to know where is my head ( and heart)
She wants to know how I am doing, and if she can help

She is my brother and she is keeping me.

Who are you accountable to?
Have you identified someone who you can trust with being you.
Who can reel you back in when you have wandered off your God given path.
Who is your brother.?
Who is keeping you?

I have started a weight loss journey many times over the years only to give up after a few weeks. But this time I may actually stick to it because I have joined a group who will encourage as well as question my behaviors. They are my weight-loss brothers, they are checking on me, they are keeping me.

I am also the keeper to a few brothers ( and sisters)
It’s amazing what a simple ” I’m just checking on you” text will do.

The question was asked “am I my brothers keeper”
your answer should be “yes, I am”
