Habakkuk 2:3Common English Bible (CEB)
3 There is still a vision for the appointed time;
it testifies to the end;
it does not deceive.
If it delays, wait for it;
for it is surely coming; it will not be late.
Each of us has had a vision, a flash of something that seemed to good to be true. A vision of a better time/place; a better you.
It could’ve been in a dream, or maybe you were wide awake but you could see it very clearly.
Whatever that is …hold on to that!
When we were little we dreamed and we dreamed big- we believed we could be and do anything.
When we “grew” up we stopped trusting in the power of dreams and started trusting in our own abilities. This kills the vision.
Some of us have pursued our dreams but most of us gave up long ago, we got tired of waiting or we reasoned that it was impossible.
the scripture says if it delays…WAIT FOR IT!
Waiting for a promise from God is worth it.
Wait on your vision…
I began to write back in middle school, I would write poems for my Mom for Christmas. When my brother graduated from college I wrote him a poem thanking him for always protecting his little sister. I had dreams of being a writer.
Life happened and I was no longer a misunderstood teenager who wrote her feelings down in a left over notebook from the previous school year. I grew up, got a job, had children, got married and found other interest.
Every so often I would get the writing bug and start a project, but never would finish it. I have been writing the same Christian fiction book since 2000, still not completed.
August of this year, the vision of writing was stirred in me again. I begin to write nearly everyday and completed 4 pieces of work in 3 months, I even write this devotional 5 days a week. I am a writing machine. I am starting to see glimpses of the vision I had years ago.
Your vision will come to pass too; it has its own timing. It may take longer to come than you expected but it will come. It was not a figment of your imagination, it wasn’t a lie, just because it SEEMS like it won’t happen, wait for it!
God gave you the vision for a reason, the only way it won’t happen is if you get tired of waiting.
I waited, and waited, even got discouraged, wanted to throw in the towel a couple times but I waited.
Yesterday I offered 2 books to the public and within minutes they each had sold 1 copy.
Don’t give up, don’t give in,
If it delays, wait for it;
for it is surely coming; it will not be late.
