2 Corinthians 4:8-9New Living Translation (NLT)
8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.
Sometimes I wish that I could wave a magic wand and all the troubles of the world go away. (well, my troubles anyway-let’s be honest here)
When we take a moment to reflect on the years gone by, it makes you wonder how you made it to today. If I stay in the moment of reflection too long, I will forget that yes, I have been torn, but not torn apart.
As believers we NEVER want to have trouble. Trouble will come- but trouble doesn’t have to stay. When we lament over our trouble it lingers. No one likes to be knocked down, no one likes to be confused,or pressed. There is hope in the last part of the scripture…BUT WE ARE NOT DESTROYED
What destroys us is our thinking. When we mistake a fall for failure, or mistake a rip for being shredded. The scripture is clear, we may be bumped around, bruised even, but not broken to the point of destruction.
So I will continue to pick myself up, dust myself off and try, try again knowing that trouble will come, but I can OVERcome trouble.
