Mark 2:4 New International Version (NIV)
4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on.
This story is the standard we should be as a friend. As the crowd gathered around Jesus there was no room for anyone else to get in. A group of friends KNEW if they could just get this guy to Jesus he could be healed.
Every now and then we need to be with friends who know how to get to Jesus. We need to be around people whose faith is stronger than ours. We need to be around people who will climb on a roof top and dig us a hole. We need to be around folks that will take a risk to help us reach our goals. We need friends that will BREAKTHROUGH the very obstacle that is keeping us from our deliverance. We need friends that will believe for you when all you can do is lay on a mat.
I don’t know about you but every now and then I can get in a funk. A dark cloud will loom overhead and I will forget all God’s promises. This is when I begin to reach out to my friends. One’s that will not allow me to wallow in self-pity. One’s that will say to me “if you can’t get up, I will carry you. Either way we are getting to Jesus”
It’s during these times of despair I can’t trust my feelings and situations to just anybody. I need strong prayer partners that will stop everything and carry me to the feet of Jesus. I need to be forgiven and healed.
I need friends that will break through the depression for me. I need people to believe for me when I can’t see my own way. I need people to push through the crowds of negativity and take me to a higher place. I need people who will not leave me until I can “take up my mat and walk” again.
Thank you friends for getting me to my breakthrough!
