Isaiah 53:7 New English Translation (NET Bible)
7 He was treated harshly and afflicted, but he did not even open his mouth.
Like a lamb led to the slaughtering block, like a sheep silent before her shearers,
He did not even open his mouth.
We in America feel the need to speak out against any and everything going on around us.
We are quick to pass judgement wrapped up in our religious beliefs. We are quick to condemn or condone the actions of everyone around us. We often feel we have to say “something” even when something isn’t worth saying at all.
When someone mistreat us or accuses us falsely, that’s when we want to be heard the loudest. We get angry and loud. How dare you say words about me. Only I can give my opinion about others. You don’t have the right to open your mouth about me!
I am throughly entertained by social media and their rants of irrelevant rages. Many have declared they have “haters” which only amounts to your limited circle of so-called friends. We post these inaccuracies so that EVERYONE, even acquaintances can see WHAT it is you are upset about.
We need to take a lesson from Jesus.
Now is not the time to rant and rave. Now is the time to get quiet.
There is no need to defend a lie, it dissolves on its own. There is no need to let other people know how greatly you are affected by their opinion of you. There is no real reason to care what someone who doesn’t feed you thinks about you.
When you respond in silence, that speaks VOLUMES!
