Psalm 81:10 King James Version (KJV)
10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
Matthew 21:22 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
22 If you believe, you will get anything you ask for in prayer.”
The ads for the hottest toys are already prominent on my daughters favorite tv stations. She is beginning to tell me all about what she has been seeing on TV. She is getting excited about Christmas. Her excitement is unwavering. She KNOWS Christmas is coming even if it is 6 months away. The very thought of getting what she has asked for is enough to fuel her excitement for the next several months. She KNOWS what Christmas is like, so she has no problem voicing her expectations; even in July. She believes she will get whatever it is she is asking for.
What about me? Have I shown this much excitement when I ask God for the desires of my heart? Have I looked back at past blessings and remembered ALL the magnificent things he has done for me? Can my enthusiasm over the possibility carry me for months KNOWING that my Christmas is coming? Have I opened my mouth to dare ask for what others deem impossible? Have I opened my mouth (asked for what I want) so that I can be filled with all kinds of great things?
I don’t know about you but I need my Christmas (blessings) to come. I need God to do something for me that may seem impossible. I am excited to wait because when it comes I know its going to be MORE than what I have asked for. As I wait, I remember. As I wait, I praise. As I wait, I think. Christmas never fails to come. I can get excited because it just may come in July.
