Ezekiel 37:4-7 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)

4 Then he said to me, “Speak to these bones for me. Tell them, ‘Dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord! 5 This is what the Lord God says to you: I will cause breath[a] to come into you, and you will come to life! 6 I will put sinew and muscles on you, and I will cover you with skin. Then I will put breath in you, and you will come back to life! Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”

7 So I spoke to the bones for the Lord, as he said. I was still speaking, when I heard the loud noise. The bones began to rattle, and bone joined together with bone!

If you haven’t read this bible story in some time I want to encourage you to do so. Ezekiel chapter 37, I like to use an easy to read version.

Many of us are in a valley. We have come down from a high place, a mountain, and can’t imagine the trek of climbing up another one. This valley literally stinks. Everything in it is dead! Life can be like this. We can look back and remember our high places but right now we are surrounded by bones.

In this passage Ezekiel is placed in a valley of dry bones. God asked him “can these dry bones live?” The question itself is profound because when we look at our dead situations it truly can seem hopeless. Ezekiel responded correctly “only you know Lord”

I can tell you from experience, some situations I am facing only God knows if they will get better. I can identify with Ezekiel. When things have been dead so long that we are left with only remains , only God knows.

As I was reading this verses 4-7 leaped from the page. All while Ezekiel was talking NOTHING was happening. It wasn’t until Ezekiel spoke Gods words that the bones started rattling. Things begin to come together, bones that was once dry lived!

I know it’s easy to consult with other people when we are in our own valley. I do this as well. Have we consulted God? Have we applied HIS word to the dry places in our life? Have we watered our dead situations with his word to bring them back to life?

Again, nothing happened until Ezekiel spoke Gods words!
