2 Chronicles 15:7New Living Translation (NLT)
7 But as for you, be strong and courageous, for your work will be rewarded.”
Life can throw you for a loop. One minute you’re up, the next you’re way up, then all the sudden you are hit with a blow so hurtful, you’re unsure if you will recover. This is when you have to throw all reason and caution to the wind and declare “I won’t give up”
I had a conversation with one of my good friends about the “waiting and trusting” on God thing. We had come up with all kinds of “maybe’s” as to why God allowed this to happen. Hadn’t we been faithful? Hadn’t we fasted and prayed? Hadn’t we waited in expectation? Yes, we did ALL those things. We touched and agreed…and NOTHING.
This is where the “maybe this; maybe that” comes into your minds and soon after a feeling of WTF.
(Super saints, forgive the 3 letter reference above, you already have your lives together not sure why you are reading this anyway)
When you get to this point, your mind and emotions have taken over.
When I tell you your eyes will lie to you, I mean exactly that. Remember that outfit your eyes told you looked great on you. What about that 3rd plate at the buffet? What about that significant other that turned out to be a nightmare? Any of these things ring a bell? Your eyes will lie to you.
When this happens to me (and believe me it’s often) I go straight to the word of God. The word is the only thing I know that will not and cannot lie.
Therefore, I can’t quit. I know what my eyes are seeing. I know what my feelings are telling me but I also know that the word says I WILL be rewarded!
Thank you. Amen
