John 14:27New Living Translation (NLT)
27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
How many times have we received a gift that we didn’t accept.
Think Christmas, some gifts are opened, we looked at them, decided we didn’t want it and either tucked it away or we were bold enough to re-gift it.
Re-gift= taking a gift someone gave you, re-wrapping it and giving it to someone else.
Some gifts are cheap; some expensive
Some gifts are never even opened
Some gifts are opened, used on occasion then forgotten
Some gifts are opened, but never used.
What have you done with the gift of “peace of mind and heart” ?
A gift so expensive there can not be an assigned monetary value. Did you even open it? Did you use it a few times, now can’t remember where you put it; has it been given away?
Maybe you didn’t realize the value of Peace, didn’t quite understand how it works, couldn’t quite get the pieces together; maybe you weren’t mature enough for the gift
If you’ve given it away= go get it back
Misplaced it=go find it
Never open it=open it now
Didn’t understand how it works=Read the instructions
Wasn’t old enough for it( mature) =you are now
Couldn’t figure out what it was= look at it again
What you do with your gift after it has been given to you is truly your business.
But it seems kind of crazy to ask for something you’ve already been given.
